Troop Organization

By Tom Olin - Posted on 01 May 2008

Troop 108 is part of the Oriskany District of the Revolutionary Trails Council (RTC) of Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Waterville’s C.J. Fulmer Post 20 of the American Legion is the Charter Organization.

The Troop is comprised of both youth members (scouts) and adult leaders. It is organized as follows:

• Troop Committee: Composed of parents and other interested adults from the community, the Committee sets troop policy and otherwise ensures that the Troop’s adult staff have the resources and support they need to oversee the activities of the scouts.

• Adult Staff: The Scoutmaster (SM) and Assistant Scoutmasters (ASM) oversee the activities of the scouts and supervise troop activities.

• Senior Patrol: The Senior Patrol includes a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL), a Scribe, and a Quartermaster.

• Patrols: The general scout membership is organized as patrols made up of boys of different ages and skills. Each patrol has a Patrol Leader (PL) and an Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) plus an Instructor. The instructor is a boy of 1st class or above. Patrols are discussed in more
detail in the following section.

A troop roster should be provided with this guidebook and is updated as needed. It lists contact information for all troop members, including scouts and adult leaders. If you do not have a current roster, please contact any adult leader.
